Religious Education (Preschool - 6th Grade)

Ongoing Religious Education is vital to the faith formation of our children. The purpose of Religious Education classes is to help the children, along with their parents, to grow in their Catholic Faith and in their love of God. We use a curriculum that teaches them about what we believe as Catholics as we move through the Liturgical Year. It invites them to love as Jesus did and to live His message each day. Classes are offered during the school year – September through May. Our Anglo Community meets on Sundays from 10:45 a.m. until Noon. Our Hispanic Community meets on Thursday evenings from 6:45 p.m. until 8:45 p.m. We use a bilingual program in order to meet the needs of the children and the need of their parents to understand what it is the children are studying.

For more information, please contact the Coordinator of Children’s Faith Formation: Heather Pariera at 503-357-2989, ext 16.

First Communion & Reconciliation

Preparation to receive one’s First Communion and First Reconciliation is for children in the second grade who have already been baptized. Children must be enrolled and participating in Religious Education classes beginning in September of their Second Grade Year. Preparation takes place both at home with their family and in their class. If your child is older than a second grader and has not yet received these Sacraments, please call to make arrangements for the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults with the adaptations for children – known as RCIC. These requirements are for both our Anglo and Hispanic Communities. We use a bilingual curriculum from the same publisher that provides our ongoing Religious Education program.

For more information, please contact the Coordinator of Children’s Faith Formation: Heather Pariera at 503-357-2989, ext 16.

Vacation Bible School (GIFT)

This program gives children a more intense look at Jesus using Adoration, receiving of the Sacraments, music, crafts, games, Bible stories, and snack time each day. We always need help in all areas of the program, so volunteers are always welcome!! Summer G.I.F.T. is a week long program for children ages 4 – 12. It takes place the week following the 4th of July, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. until Noon. Our goal for each child who attends is to create excitement for learning more about Jesus, for knowing His love for them, and for being Catholic.

For more information, please contact the Coordinator of Children’s Faith Formation: Heather Pariera at 503-357-2989, ext 16.
